Sandra Callaghan - Musical Director

Seriously, Sandra is what we are - she has moulded RVS into what it is. She is a perfectionist - yet she warmly welcomes new members who are still learning and therefore ‘mime’ when they should be playing - Sandra is totally behind opening up musical playing for everybody (of all ages). She firmly believes that music is for anybody and everybody who wants to enjoy playing.

Sandra has a musical background envied by many of our players:

She has a background of brass band membership (trumpet)
She is a private tutor for the trumpet
She is a qualified music teacher
She is the brass tutor at Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School, Fearns High School and plays with Alder Grange Brass (Guess the instrument!)
An indication of Sandra’s commitment to the band is that she was born with a trumpet in her mouth, yet she gives up her trumpet playing every Thursday night to do the impossible - to knock us into a ‘musical sound’ which is appreciated by our audiences
